When I was a little kid, I used to watch my mother cook and I remember being so fascinated by the delicious food she cooked that I realized it was something I wanted to try. I was always captivated by the way she measured and tested different ingredients. Thereafter, I always spent most of my time in the kitchen observing my mother cook and I would imitate what she was doing with pretend toys. My love for cooking has over time taken over more and more of my life. I usually find that I spend a lot of time either cooking or thinking of cooking than I do when it comes to other activities.
The reason why I am so fascinated by cooking is that I see cooking as more than just preparing a meal. Cooking is an art and a gift that brings so much joy into my life. Just like in painting art, an artist has to choose the right art supplies such as the right type of paint, brush and drawing paper in order to have the perfect painting. That artwork also evokes different reactions from people when they view it. Similarly, cooking is also an art as one has to choose the right ingredients, the right combinations and measurements in order to create a perfect dish. The food cooked also evokes reactions and emotions in people. Food is usually linked to memories and special occasions. (Need Assistant with your Assignment, Order Custom Paper )
I love cooking because it helps build my imagination and creativity. There are so many different types of recipes and food to be tried. However, I often feel that cooking goes beyond a recipe. I love to experiment and play around with different ingredients to see what kind of taste I can come up with in dishes. Most of the time I always end up with botched experiments but there is always room for trial and error in cooking. Failing and trying again is the way to perfect a dish. I love choosing what to cook, which ingredients to use and there are so many endless possibilities to what one can cook. Cooking is obtained through observation, study, practice, and devotion. I have realised that these same principles which I apply when cooking can also be applied to other things in life. Therefore, I not only learn how to prepare meals but also other important qualities to help me navigate through life.
There is always a certain joy that I find when I am cooking, whether for me or for other people and the emotional benefits I get from cooking are endless. The kitchen is not just a place where I can find ingredients and cooking tools. It is my happy place where I can express my love for cooking. When I am having a bad day, cooking is always my go-to as a stress reliever. When chopping, mixing or stirring ingredients, I always feel a calming sensation taking over my mind as I become so engrossed in the activity. I also love the satisfaction and sense of accomplishment I get when I cook a delicious meal which is appreciated by those I serve. Complements and appreciation for the good food I make are music to my ears and they serve as an inspiration. Learning more about cooking is usually one of my favourite hobbies. I love discovering new recipes, new ingredients, and new cuisines. I often turn to cooking shows such as Master Chef and cookbooks such as 12 Recipes. I also exchange cooking tips with friends and relatives who share my passion for cooking. There are also numerous cooking videos that can be easily accessed online and I always find myself viewing them for any additional information on cooking.
